Peugeot has unveiled the high-performance model that nobody expected. Its name is Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept and its official presentation will be at the Geneva Motor Show . With it, he intends to give us an idea of ​​how the plug-in hybrids will be focused on performance that is scheduled in the short or medium term.

Peugeot Sport has developed this concept based on the new 508 Hybrid. The engine that carries under the hood is the PureTech 1.6 combined with an electric motor of 109 HP. Both are responsible for moving the front wheels. However, the power train does not end there. For the rear axle they have added another electric motor much more powerful, capable of delivering 200 HP.

What the Sport Engineered can do

The combined power of the two electric motors and the thermal one is 405 HP. Thanks to her and her 500 Nm of torque , you can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed limited mechanically 250 km/h. This sedan also has a 11.8 kWh battery with which you can travel 50 km in electric mode.

Modifications of the 508

To accompany the extra power of this car, Peugeot has lowered the suspension , it has widened the front track by 2.4 cm and the rear track by 1.2 cm. The steering system has also been improved and a set of tires Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has been installed.

In addition, Peugeot has altered the design of the car with a new front bumper that incorporates a valance printed in 3D, to direct the air towards the radiator and towards the rear diffuser. Other modifications are the small fins on the rear windows and the large tires. The French automaker has not yet said whether the 508 Sport Engineered will become a production car.
